www.VeritasFinancialMinistries.com People often ask why it is that the Church talks about money. There is a widespread view that our faith is separate from what we do with our money. That way of thinking is flawed. The Church exists to share Christ with the world, and that fact is, Christ had a lot to say about money. There are hundreds of references to money in the Bible. Jesus used money and possessions as themes in half of His parables. Why did He speak of money so often? Because He knows that money and possessions have a way of interfering with our relationship with Him.
Jesus wants to hold a special place in our lives. He loves us and desires our love in return. He shares Hhimself with us completely in the Eucharist—a gift we celebrate with today’s Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. If Christ felt it was so important to teach His disciples about money, the church has a duty to convey those same principles today. From being separate, faith and finances are intimately linked. Christ’s example and teaching helps us understand how to use resources wisely. If we follow Christ’s teaching, we will make our relationship with Him our highest priority. We will be a hard working and generous people. We will save for future needs. We will prioritize our spending on things that really matter. We’ll responsibly create wealth and avoid the misuse of debt. Our financial lives will be in balance. In a nutshell, we will be the stewards of Providence that the Lord wants us to be. God loves you! February is dedicated to The Holy Family
Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and departed to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod.
This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the
prophet, “Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
Matthew 2:13-15 RSV-SCE O most loving Jesus, Who by Thy surpassing virtues and the example
of Thy home life didst hallow the household in which Thou didst choose
to live while on earth, mercifully look down upon this family, whose
members, humbly prostrate before Thee, implore Thy protection. Remember
that we are Thine, bound and consecrated to Thee by a special devotion.
Protect us in Thy mercy, deliver us from danger, help us in our
necessities, and impart to us strength to persevere always in the
imitation of Thy Holy Family, so that, by serving Thee and loving Thee
faithfully during this mortal life, we may at length give Thee eternal
praise in heaven.
O Mary, dearest Mother, we implore thy assistance, knowing that thy divine Son will hearken to thy petition.
And do thou, most glorious patriarch, St. Joseph, help us with thy
powerful patronage, and place our petitions in Mary's hands, that she
may offer them to Jesus Christ. Amen. |
