What if thousands of people decided to fast 1 to 3 meals and then
donated $5, $10, or $15 to relief efforts to help the victims of the
earthquake in Haiti?
We could literally send thousands of dollars in aid to help those in
need and we could do it in the matter of a few days.
Join the effort and spread the word, get your entire youth group, your
church choir, your parish, your co-workers, your young adult group,
your campus ministry group, whoever you can to join this effort. Pick
one day in the next week and fast for 1 to 3 meals that day - then
donate $5, $10, or $15.
www.fastforhaiti.com is an effort of Chris Faddis and
www.livinggracefully.net - all proceeds are to be given directly to an
aid organization such as Catholic Relief Services. For more information

"We will go throughout the city, we will pass among the people
assailed by thousands of everyday problems, we will go to meet these
brothers and sisters of ours and we will show the Sacrament of Christ's
presence to all:
'Behold the bread of angels, the bread of pilgrims; the true bread of children.'
In this bread the Almighty, the
Eternal, the thrice Holy has made Himself close to us, has become
'God-With-Us,' Emmanuel." - Pope John Paul II

We will begin Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 8:15am Mass on Monday and conclude Wednesday Morning with solemn Benediction.
Ash Wednesday, February 17th and Good Friday, April 2nd are days of
fast and abstinence. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence.
Fasting
is to be observed by all 18 years of age through age 59. On a fast day
one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain
strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they
should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not
permitted but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed.
Abstinence
is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence not
meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be
seriously affected, the law does not oblige. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, the parish priest should be consulted.
Fasting,
almsgiving and prayer are the three disciplines of Lent. The faithful
and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit
of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at
Easter.
The Feast of Corpus Christi(Latin - Body of Christ) honors the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. Traditionally celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday in order to associate it with the Institution on the Eucharist on Holy Thursday. The feast, now known as the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, is transferred to the following Sunday in the United States, Canada and Australia. It was customary to have a Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction after Mass.
The month of June is traditionally dedicated to The Sacred Heart of Jesus, a private devotion revealed to us by Saint Marguerite Marie, a French nun during the 17th century.
The heart has always been
seen as the "center" or essence a person ("the heart of the matter," "you
are my heart," "take it to heart," etc.) and the wellspring of our emotional
lives and love ("you break my heart," "my heart sings," etc.) Devotion to
the Sacred Heart of Jesus is devotion to Jesus Christ Himself, but in the
particular ways of meditating on his interior life and on His threefold love
-- His divine love, His burning love that fed His human will, and His sensible
love that affects His interior life. Pope Pius XII of blessed memory writes
on this topic in his 1956 encyclical, Haurietis Aquas (On Devotion To
The Sacred Heart).Below are a few excerpts which help explain the devotion:

March is dedicated to
St. Joseph
Behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; 21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
Matthew 1:20b-21 RSV
Oh,
St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the
throne of God, I place in you all my interest and desires. Oh, St. Joseph,
do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your
divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So
that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my
thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Joseph, I
never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not
approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him close in my name and
kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my
dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for me.
