Catechism Quote

"The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone. Its authority in this matter is exercised in the name of Jesus Christ." This means that the task of interpretation has been entrusted to the bishops in communion with the successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome.

"Yet this Magisterium is not superior to the Word of God, but is its servant. It teaches only what has been handed on to it. At the divine command and with the help of the Holy Spirit, it listens to this devotedly, guards it with dedication and expounds it faithfully. All that it proposes for belief as being divinely revealed is drawn from this single deposit of faith."

Mindful of Christ's words to his apostles: "He who hears you, hears me", the faithful receive with docility the teachings and directives that their pastors give them in different forms. - CCC 85-87

SAM(Substance Addiction Ministry) has started a Support Group on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. The Group meets in the Annex (building to the right of the school) from 7:00—8:30 pm. If you or a loved one need help dealing with addiction, please join us. If you have any questions please call Deacon Bob Pope at 561-212-9729. All calls are confidential

The group is a place where people suffering from addiction or their family members or both can come to share how addiction has impacted their lives, in a confidential setting. This is not counseling and is not a 12 step group meeting. The meeting is facilitated by Erik Vagenius, MHS, CAP Coordinator of the Diocese of Palm Beach Substance Addiction Ministry. For more information on SAM, please see http://www.diocesepb.org/family/sam.htm

If you or a family member or someone that you know is hurting because of addiction to a substance or compulsions that are not substance related such as compulsive shopping, overeating, problem gambling, and any other activity or behavior that has become the major focus of a their life during which they withdraw from other activities – then the SAM Support group is a place where for them to share with others that have similar issues.

Thank you for your time and please feel free to forward this information to anybody that you think may benefit from it.

Dependence on alcohol and drugs is one of our most serious national public health problems. It is prevalent among rich and poor, in all regions of the country, and all ethnic and social groups. Millions of Americans misuse or are dependent on alcohol or drugs. Most of them have families who suffer the consequences, often serious, of living with this illness. If there is alcohol or drug dependence in your family, remember you are not alone.

If you or a family member need help, please have them call SAM (Substance Addiction Ministry) at 561-721-3578. All calls are confidential. We provide referral phone numbers for resources that can help.
