Catechism Quote

God is the author of Sacred Scripture. "The divinely revealed realities, which are contained and presented in the text of Sacred Scripture, have been written down under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit."

"For Holy Mother Church, relying on the faith of the apostolic age, accepts as sacred and canonical the books of the Old and the New Testaments, whole and entire, with all their parts, on the grounds that, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they have God as their author, and have been handed on as such to the Church herself."- CCC 105

PEACE logoPEOPLE  ENGAGED IN  ACTIVE  COMMUNITY  EFFORTS

P.E.A.C.E. is a congregation-based community organization charged with the mission of effectively fighting injustices in the communities of Palm Beach County. Through the power of large numbers of organized people, our members identify problems of mutual concern, research solutions to those problems, and hold public officials accountable to implementing these solutions.

We are an affiliate of DART (Direct Action & Research Training Center), a network of twenty-two organizations just like ours located throughout the country.

OUR HISTORY
In the early 1990s, clergy from various communities in the West Palm Beach / Riviera Beach core areas started meeting to explore the idea of joining forces powerfully to combat injustice. Their group and idea grew. In 1991, the group held its first Annual Convention, and P.E.A.C.E. was born!

OUR VISION
In Micah 6:8, it is clear that there are three things required of us as people of faith - to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. P.E.A.C.E. focuses on being a vehicle by which people can powerfully come together to effectively fulfill the first of the three requirements - TO DO JUSTICE. The vision we are working towards, as congregations, is to turn out our average worship attendance once a year for a large Nehemiah-style Action Assembly.

P.E.A.C.E. exists for the following reasons:

  • To link congregations together so that they might be a powerful force in bringing about justice to the communities of Palm Beach County.
  • To train leaders in the work of building Justice Ministries.
  • To assist clergy and community leaders in strengthening the internal lives of their own congregations and organizations.

MEMBERS
Justice NETWORK MEMBERS  agree to do two things:

1. Attend four meetings a year. They are:

  • The community problems assembly in November, when issues are identified.
  • The rally before the action, in March.
  • The Nehemiah action when PEACE presents issues and solutions to officials who can deal with them, in April.
  • The celebration dinner and kickoff to the annual investment drive, in June

2. And to being three others to the Nehemiah Action.

Justice ministry TEAM MEMBERS do what the Network Members do, plus help to organize and turn out the Network. Team Members and Network Members may both, if they wish, serve on PEACE committees that research and develop the issues.
