A Stroke occurs when a blood vessel that supplies blood to the brain burst or is blocked by a blood clot. Nerve cells in the area of the brain are damaged. An ischemic stroke is caused by a reduction in blood flow to the brain. A hemorrhagic stroke develops when an artery in the brain leaks or burst and causes bleeding inside the brain. Signs and Symptoms:
• Numbness, weakness, or paralysis of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body.
• Double vision or loss of vision
• Confusion
• Trouble walking, loss of balance or coordination
• Dizziness
• Severe headache Treatment:
• Depends on the type of stroke and signs and symptoms
SEEK IMMEDIATE TREATMENT FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS.

 We will be offering the American Heart Association Heart Saver CPR course throughout the year. The cost is $20 per person. Anyone interested, please contact Gae Faraone. The next two classes are Tuesday, March 16th at 6pm and Saturday, March 27th at 9:30am in the Annex (Convent).

CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME…Is a disease of the wrist and hand which is caused by abnormal pressure on the Median Nerve (the nerve that passes through the wrist into the hand). Signs & Symptoms…Burning, tingling, pain and numbness. Activities that are Risk Factors...Computer keyboard typing, driving long distances, use of tools such as hammers, saws, drills and jack-hammers, and knitting and sewing. Treatment...Ice compress for pain and swelling; immobilizing the wrist in a splint; range of motion exercises. If you are experiencing any of the above signs and symptoms, consult your doctor for appropriate treatment.

40 Days for Life - Spring 2010Join in a Peaceful Vigil of Prayer and Fasting outside Presidential Women's Center from Feb 17 to Mar 28 for the end of abortion. Our vigil is one of 167 praying for the end of abortion in communities throughout the world.
CRHP XX for MenApril 10-11, 2010 is the Men's Christ Renews His Parish Retreat. This weekend retreat is fulfilling for those men that seek a deeper relationship with our Lord through fellowship with his peers, bible reading and prayer. It a spiritual gift like no other. The retreat includes food, accommodations, great fun and most importantly a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God. The weekend is open to all men in the parish and costs nothing.
Men's Bible Study, Prayer & Discussion GroupA men's group on Tuesday's at 7pm in the Holy Family Room. Each week will begin with a discussion of next Sunday's Gospel.
