The following is an excerpt from a letter from a former parishioner who recently moved to be closer to her family. Dear Friends, I am writing to thank all my young friends for the letters, cards and drawings you send me. Receiving them makes me happy; it's wonderful to know you are thinking of me. I thank you from my heart and I'm sure Jesus thanks you too. Life sometimes becomes very lonely but knowing that people care makes life more bearable. Although I now live in Maryland, Holy Name of Jesus will always be my church. Bless you all
A big thank you is extended to everyone who has ever taken the time to write. As you can see, your efforts are appreciated.

Our supply of postage stamps is depleted. For those of you who aren't letter writers, how about writing a check? We send out 30 letters which means we need $12.60 to cover one mailing. If you'd like, you can drop a check in the collection basket and indicate that it's for Letters from Heaven. Whether you are a letter writer or a check writer, we say, "Thank you!"

Many thanks to all who contributed cards, letters and stamps over the last few weeks. A special thanks goes to Carol for making 25 hand-stitched pocket crosses. What a wonderful, beautiful gift! Mark your calendars. On Saturday, May 2nd we will gather to address envelopes at 9:00 a.m. If you are interested, please contact Mary.

Stop Killing our BabiesJoin us in saying the Rosary every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in front of the abortion clinic at Wendy's parking lot.
Taize Prayer
An hour of quiet song and meditation on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Church.
The Gospel Inspired Group (GIG)A men's group on Tuesday's at 7pm in the Holy Family Room. Each week will begin with a discussion of next Sunday's Gospel.

Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and departed to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod.
This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the
prophet, “Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
Matthew 2:13-15 RSV-SCE O most loving Jesus, Who by Thy surpassing virtues and the example
of Thy home life didst hallow the household in which Thou didst choose
to live while on earth, mercifully look down upon this family, whose
members, humbly prostrate before Thee, implore Thy protection. Remember
that we are Thine, bound and consecrated to Thee by a special devotion.
Protect us in Thy mercy, deliver us from danger, help us in our
necessities, and impart to us strength to persevere always in the
imitation of Thy Holy Family, so that, by serving Thee and loving Thee
faithfully during this mortal life, we may at length give Thee eternal
praise in heaven.
O Mary, dearest Mother, we implore thy assistance, knowing that thy divine Son will hearken to thy petition.
And do thou, most glorious patriarch, St. Joseph, help us with thy
powerful patronage, and place our petitions in Mary's hands, that she
may offer them to Jesus Christ. Amen. |
