Food Pantry
|
Jim & Beverly Tuscano Is a ministry that all parishioners are encouraged to be a part of simply by bringing (non-perishable) food to church each weekend, where it is presented to God, along with the bread and wine. He is asked to bless it so that we can break it and share it with His hungry. If you have more time to give there are also many other services the Food Pantry is in need of, please call Jim or Beverly for more details.

Matt 9:37-38 ”The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.”
THANK YOU! “Frank & Anna’s Kitchen” is cooler now, thanks to the generous donations of fans. A hearty Hip! Hip! Hooray to four HNJ Parishioners who answered our call for a five blade fan for our Food Pantry Kitchen. The fan was installed right away and the kitchen staff is very happy. We received an abundance of 52 inch fans, three of them. So the food pantry is well supplied and the extras are badly needed on the church property and will be put to good use. We received one from Alan & Celeste Colburn, one from “Taps” a long time Food Pantry Volunteer, and another from an anonymous donor. We also received a $100 donation from Patricia Trimarchi. Thanks so much to all our generous donors.
Your Food Pantry needs Volunteers: Especially a DRIVER IS NEEDED TO DRIVE OUR FOOD PANTRY TRUCK and MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT UP TO 30 POUNDS. DRIVERS are needed on Tues. for 1-2 hours from 6:30 am to 8:30 am…. COME HELP US under the Pavilion on Wed. morning from 8:00 to 10:00 am, and Thurs. morning for Food Distribution from 8:30 am to Noon. We also need Bi-Lingual Volunteers on Thurs. mornings from 9 am to Noon for the summer and beyond. We really, really need help. During the summer our faithful volunteers go on vacation and we could use your help to fill in. Try it, you’ll like it.
Please call Beverley & Jim Tuscano at 561-964-5572 for further info. We appreciate all of our cheerful volunteers. Many hands make light work.
Please continue to contribute where you can. While we get food from other sources. We do depend on Parishioners, especially for Cereal, Soup, Rice, Canned Ravioli, Mac & Cheese, and currently we need size #4 Diapers. Thanks for helping where you can.

Your Food Pantry was blessed this week with a generous supply of bread from Pepperidge Farms. We shared the wealth with other agencies but even after we generously gave to our Food Pantry Recipients, we still had five boxes of bread left over. So we felt called to share it with the Salvation Army, Center of Hope, a new agency to us and it is just up the street from Holy Name. I walked in with Jim and they were happy to receive the bread. I’ve found in life that, “We are never anywhere for the reason we think.” God usually has other plans. So I entered the building waiting for a sign & gift from the Holy Spirit. Suddenly, I was prompted to look at the Bulletin board and there I saw it, a sign which read: “God chooses WHAT we go though but we choose HOW we go through it.” Wow! What an incredible gift of wisdom to share with everyone. I told Jim and he said “write that down for me.” Now I’m passing it along to you. NOTE: Your Food Panty NEEDS BI-LINGUAL Spanish speaking VOLUNTEERS for New Registrations, from 9:00 am to Noon on Thursdays. DRIVERS: We pick up food nearly everyday of the week and we need help. Please volunteer for ONE ROUTE on ONE DAY a week. That would help tremendously. A hearty “Thank You!” too all who currently serve in the Food Pantry Ministry and to all who donate food, time and money. Many hands make light work. God bless you all. If you can help us please call Beverley & Jim Tuscano.

With the help of Gayle Galdames, the 6th grade did the school food drive, having each grade bring in a certain food. They collected 12 overflowing banana boxes! The 8th grade did a bake sale and sold the baked goods at lunch and after school. Everything was baked at home - there was NO store bought stuff. They raised $130 charging $.25 and $.50 for the items! The 7th grade did a car wash (the weekend after the window wash) and raised $320. That money was used to buy 14 boxes of diapers. 1,160 diapers to be exact. That left $51 in the food pantry account for anything else needed. Thank you, children for your generosity and Dear Parishioners thank you for your continued support & generous contributions to the HNJ Food Pantry. We need bilingual volunteers to cover the summer months. And we need Strong men to help with driving & loading supplies for the Food Pantry. Please Call Beverley & Jim Tuscano.

The HNJ Food Pantry is one of the largest Ministries in our parish. Perhaps you have been thinking about joining a Ministry and giving service and wondered where you might best serve God and the community. I ask you to please consider volunteering for the Food Pantry by giving us the "Gift of your Time". We are blessed with many helping hands and cheerful volunteers but we have some IMPORTANT VACANCIES currently in the Transportation Dept.

February is dedicated to The Holy Family
Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and departed to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod.
This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the
prophet, “Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
Matthew 2:13-15 RSV-SCE O most loving Jesus, Who by Thy surpassing virtues and the example
of Thy home life didst hallow the household in which Thou didst choose
to live while on earth, mercifully look down upon this family, whose
members, humbly prostrate before Thee, implore Thy protection. Remember
that we are Thine, bound and consecrated to Thee by a special devotion.
Protect us in Thy mercy, deliver us from danger, help us in our
necessities, and impart to us strength to persevere always in the
imitation of Thy Holy Family, so that, by serving Thee and loving Thee
faithfully during this mortal life, we may at length give Thee eternal
praise in heaven.
O Mary, dearest Mother, we implore thy assistance, knowing that thy divine Son will hearken to thy petition.
And do thou, most glorious patriarch, St. Joseph, help us with thy
powerful patronage, and place our petitions in Mary's hands, that she
may offer them to Jesus Christ. Amen. |
